Jade L A Fisher
Do you see me? Focuses on individuals within the frame rather than their hidden or visible disability.
Too often society sees the disability rather than the person.
The aim of this project is to raise awareness and give the individuals a platform to tell their story in their own words via a handwritten piece that accompanies the images.
Jade’s interest in the representation of disabled people stems from her research into how they are represented in media, especially advertising, which she discovered was sadly lacking.
After becoming disabled herself; a person with a hidden disability, she found it difficult to accept this lack of
representation. Thus, Jade created this collection to stimulate conversation concerning disability, beginning to normalise disability within society.
